@Ronnie 2¢: I'm the last person to let my kids to go on too thin ice! And I won't go there myself either. Ice was more than 10 cm thick, very strong. There were lots of people on the ice that day it's a small bay from a big lake, so quite safe without under ice water flows. We have so many lakes here that most of us know the near by waters, because the ice is weak every year from the same places. ( near bridges, flows etc.)
