Tampella

Posted by Krisu (Tampere, Finland) on 26 October 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This used to be a fabric factory. When it was disbanded (hope this is the right word?), the sign was taken away in 1997. It was a huge sensation, from that day on the citizens have demanded the city of Tampere to put the sign back. It's a part of our city's image and has been on the roof since 1930/40.
So it's back, as you may see. It was an event when in September 29. 2006, three years ago the Tampella-sign was finally back to its place on the roof of the former factory.

Sorry, could find an article only in Finnish, happy moments to you reading it ;)
